This holistic approach includes a strong management component, taught by professors from our partner business school HEC, to ensure you are ready to tackle the business and organizational challenges of this rapidly evolving sector. Part of your technical training will be delivered by professors, researchers, and expert-engineers from academic institutes (École Polytechnique, IRSTEA, INRA, CEA, etc.) and international companies (EDF, Veolia, Suez, etc.).
Alongside your coursework and research, you will receive expert insight via a series of masterclasses, where leading industry and academic research figures will outline their strategy for navigating the environmental challenges in the 21st century.
The Environmental Engineering and Sustainability Management program emphasizes hands-on, experimental learning by inviting you into the worlds of research and industry, notably through four to six-month internships. To begin with, each student will be assigned to one of our degree professors involved in high-level research in order to benefit from their one-on-one mentoring.
On the École Polytechnique campus and within the Plateau de Saclay business and research cluster, you will have access to an exceptional concentration of high-level research facilities, including campus research laboratories, startups, a business incubator, fablab (digital manufacturing laboratory), etc. Research laboratories of IRSTEA (Institut National de Recherche en Sciences et Technologies pour l'Environnement et l'Agriculture: National Research Institute for Environment and Agriculture Sciences and Technologies) will be also open to students.

Comprising high-value industrial partnerships, internships, and international academic exchanges, the Environmental Engineering and Sustainability Management program is designed to ensure you are ready for a new professional world upon graduation. It aims at producing project managers able to drive a wide variety of environmental challenges such as industrial discharge control, chemical and biological approaches for pollution diagnosis, water, and soil treatment, and waste valorization. It also emphasizes new concepts such as life cycle assessment, eco-design, omics sciences, numerical simulation, and modeling.

Applicants must hold or expect to hold an undergraduate degree in Bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Geology or Biology prior to the beginning of the program. A basis in the fundamentals of Chemistry is required.
