About

The task of the brand manager is not only to attract and retain consumers but also to improve the practical and organizational management of a brand within the fashion organization – this course addresses both areas; luxury branding together with business management and organization skills.

Participants learn how to adapt communication, marketing and promotional techniques to reach goals and sales targets, and fully apply the key strategies of luxury businesses. As well as concentrating on the intangible elements: customer relationships, the impact of social media and the consumer ‘experience’, the course makes a critical analysis of the more tangible elements of branding; product attributes (quality, features, and design), and the difference between brand image and brand identity, packaging and labeling.... The MLA in Liberal Studies offers two “build-your-own” tracks.

In the Focused Studies track, students explore a particular subject from within the larger perspective of the liberal arts, earning 18 of the 33 required hours in a specific discipline. As part of their core requirements, students may take courses in pedagogy and education, theory, or research methods, which would enable them to teach at the community college level (with the 18hrs), continue on for the Ph.D., or work in areas related to their chosen field of study.

In the Interdisciplinary Studies track, students build their own unique degree from various disciplines (e.g., culture and the environment, ethics and the workplace, social justice and engagement, etc.) and related core requirements, preparing them for future study or professional careers in related areas, including work for non-profits and other businesses.... The hybrid program in JMS prepares students for careers in print, electronic and digital media or for college-level teaching, and provides a foundation for those students who elect to continue their studies at the Ph.D. level or teach at the post-secondary level. The program includes a mix of on-campus, online, and hybrid courses, requires a thesis or culminating professional project, and takes at least two years to complete. To conform with academic expectations, this degree requires 36 semester hours.

Students enrolled in the on-campus M.A. program may also take classes part time or full time. They may sample the program by taking courses as a non-degree seeking student. Up to 12 hours of graduate credit earned as a non-degree seeking student can count toward the degree. However, students are encouraged to apply soon after completing their first course as a non-degree seeking student, as success in a course taken as a non-degree seeking student does not guarantee admission to the graduate program. Students may choose electives, with their adviser’s approval, in any department at any USF campus. Students enrolled in the traditional program may also take up to two classes from the DJD course offerings.... [-]
