Introduction

Objectives The Master Degree (CLM) course in International Relations gives a comprehensive preparation on the historical, political, socio-economic, and international law matters of the current global system. It is designed to create an expert in international affairs able to handle the issues related to the new structures in bi- and multi-lateral relations. Graduates in IR are the ideal candidates for careers in Institutions, in diplomacy, in governmental and non-governmental bodies operating at the national and international level. Careers Graduates in International Relations have a comprehensive multidisciplinary background combined with specic linguistic skills. They can access careers at a regional, national, and international level: in international organizations (European and international, governmental and non-governmental); in the public sector (local, regional and national bodies); in the private sector (enterprises developing internationally). The course also offers the right background to further develop and access the third cycle of university training (doctoral programs). Program structure The Master Degree Course in International Relations lasts two years and is organized in semesters, according to an annual calendar available at the beginning of the Academic Year. Lectures and seminar activities are provided in support to autonomous study. Training is organised as follows: a rst interdisciplinary year, including the study of English and a second foreign language chosen among Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish and German; a second specialization year divided into two branches: Diplomatic and Area Studies (entirely taught in English) and Studi euromediterranei (Euromediterranean Studies), in Italian. According to the given objectives, the course of study includes both western and afro-eastern disciplines. The subjects studied will improve the international and methodological skills acquired during the rst level degree and will contribute to develop a highly qualied expert in international relations, particularly with regard to the problems and complex situations typical of a global system. An essential part of the preparation for graduates in International Relations is the traineeship program in European and non-European bodies and institutions, useful to complete the graduates’ operational and training skills. International Exchange Programs International exchange programs through the Erasmus/Globus grants allow students to study, research for the thesis and/or live qualied training experiences in international organisations, public and private bodies, in an European or extra European country. Admission requirements Admission to the Master Degree Course in International Relations requires an undergraduate degree or a three-year academic diploma (or any other equivalent qualication awarded abroad), or one of the previous four-year system degrees; curricular requirements and an adequate personal preparation will be also assessed.
