This BIM coordination master course offers advanced training for BIM coordinators who will learn to deal with integrated projects of all kinds and sizes. The Master will introduce the relevant references as for Technical Standards and mandatory rules, for example the European Union Public Procurement Directive, EUPPD for public procurement, published by the EU since 2016, introducing the use of BIM for public works. Starting from the International and National approaches about the implementation of BIM methods and procedures in the construction process, the course provides an in-depth understanding of the regulations, data processing, and key roles in the BIM environment, and will then get into many practical applications. Both theoretical and practical knowledge will enable the students to manage integrated projects. The basic training has a strong focus on the opportunities for improvement during the whole construction process, focusing on the basic competencies to be gained as for the BIM coordinator as defined by international standards. Particular attention will be given to case studies and homework. The education path is pivoted towards the coordination on the use of various BIM tools used for managing integrated projects. The architectural design, MEP, energy and structural design as well as construction management are assisted by compatible, BIM software. Indeed, it will be shown how to use those methods and procedures and software not only to manage the building of new buildings and infrastructural works but also to find the best technical solutions for the renovation of existing buildings. Some professional job opportunities which this specializing master will open include working at construction companies, construction technology manufacturers, engineering and architectural design companies, and public administrations. -

This specializing master combines the teaching units of the specializing master "Project management in construction works" with the teaching units of the specializing master "BIM Manager". BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an increasingly important tool for the correct management of the design phase, construction sites, extraordinary maintenance works, etc., regardless of the size and complexity of the intervention in question. Knowing the digitization trends of the building sector and using them wisely, aiming at better performance and higher work quality, is becoming increasingly important for project managers in the civil and infrastructure sectors. For this reason, this specializing master will offer a greater number of teaching hours (if compared to each of the two specializing masters dedicated respectively to PM and BIM) distributed both in the first semester (November-March) and in the second semester (April-October), replacing the period of internship which is not required. Each student is going to write her / his master thesis that will be delivered to the Master School and defended in order to achieve the diploma by the Politecnico di Milano. -

The goal of this specializing master's is to teach the most important tools and techniques of project and contract management to both engineers and architects. Today it is increasingly important to know how a project should be managed from beginning to end, to optimize costs and time. During this specialization master's, the students will be introduced to the theory of project management, the valuation of investments, and the principles of corporate accounting. Students will receive all the needed information to take the exam and obtain the PMI (Project Management Institute) and IPMA (International Project Management Association) certificates. They will also receive all the information necessary to take the exam and obtain the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management. Students will receive all the information necessary to become a Lean Green Belt Project Leader, and also all the information necessary to become certified project managers in Italy through Accredia. Besides all those PM tools, this specializing master will also provide more specific concepts of contract, claims, and delays management in civil and infrastructural works. The need for technicians (engineers and/or architects) who become competent in the management of contracts and claims and who can perform a delay analysis in accordance with commonly applied international standards is increasingly urgent among the major general contractors in Italy and abroad. Our globalized world requires that professionals involved in contract and dispute management know how to deal with complex technical issues and at the same time know the legal aspects involved. It is essential for professionals with a purely technical background to know the "rules of the game" in the international arena. Therefore, they should know the fundamental principles of civil and common law, as well as international arbitration, together with the most widely used international contracts (FIDIC, JCT, NEC, AAA) and the many complex technical and legal details in the analysis and management of delays and construction variants. -
