Property surveying is a diverse and exciting career choice that can give you the opportunity to travel the world and meet a wide range of people. Surveyors and real estate practitioners essentially measure value, protect and enhance land and property assets.

A key attraction of the surveying profession for many people is the fact that surveyors are not stuck behind a desk. Although typically office based, you will have the opportunity to spend a great deal of time meeting people and visiting landmark buildings. Many surveyors travel extensively both nationally and across many parts of the globe. You too could become involved in the next generation of exciting, high-profile real estate developments.

The course has accreditation from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

The Dubai Campus is accredited by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and fully licensed to teach its degrees in Dubai. All graduates receive a British degree that is accredited by the Royal Charter in the UK.

For MSc entry, a good relevant Honours degree (first or second class) or equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered. Given the clear practical element of the programmes, we will also consider non-graduate candidates holding less than a good Honours degree or its equivalent, but with compensating qualifications or experience may be admitted to the Postgraduate Diploma programme. Transfer to the MSc will be possible later on if exams and coursework are at the MSc level.

Where English was not the medium of instruction at secondary school, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.5 (with all elements passed at 6.0 or above). Applicants who have completed secondary and tertiary education will need to provide documentary evidence. A minimum of one year of full-time study in English will be required.

Our Dubai Campus operates a rolling year-round admissions process: as soon as one intake has closed we begin accepting applications for the next one. It is also possible for you to defer your start date for up to a year.

Most students apply 6–10 months in advance of their chosen intake. We can accept applications up until 3 weeks before the start of each intake but you should note that a late application will almost certainly mean a delay in the provision of essential administrative services, such as your student matriculation card (without which you won't be able to access the library or online services).

Students starting the programme in January should note that it runs part-time only for 4 semesters (24 months) + dissertation (March to August, 6 months) (total 30 months).

Students enrolling for the January intake programmes are not required to be on campus during the summer break.

The programme comprises eight core study courses, with part-time students typically taking two courses per semester and full-time students completing four courses per semester.

In addition to the taught courses, students pursuing the MSc qualification undertake a research dissertation project based on a property related theme or topic. Programme delivery is by a range of academic staff and industry practitioners, allowing students to fully benefit from a wealth of knowledge and practical skills development.

Curriculum

The programme further benefits from international accreditation by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The majority of our graduates choose to complete this programme to go on to qualify as a Chartered Surveyor in valuation, banking, portfolio management or management consultancy, or in a financial and investment advisory role.
