Introduction
JUNIA’s Smart farming and sustainable agriculture program, taught in English or in French, is based on the internationally renowned expertise that JUNIA has gained in agricultural science over the last 40 years. This internationally-accredited program delivers a Master of Science and Engineering, allowing graduates to enter the workforce or pursue doctoral studies in institutions around the world.
Course objectives
First, the fundamental objective of this program is to have a general overview of Agricultural Science. Courses range from food chain theory and crop management to livestock and plant production. Although this general approach is taught through its technical and scientific aspects, it is also crucial to include economic, sociological and ethical aspects to comprehend the notion of sustainability in agriculture.
The Smart farming and sustainable agriculture program gives students:
- An international view of the issue of agriculture, highlighting certain national and/or regional specificities,
- The necessary tools to manage crop and livestock production;
- The necessary tools to manage agricultural processes, from ruminant nutrition to distribution channels
- A practical view of site management, thanks to lectures and seminars by experts in the field;
- The methods to manage projects within an international context, with a multicultural team.

Project-based learning
Learning to work in a team and manage complex projects is an essential skill for any engineer. Therefore, one day every week is dedicated to group projects, supervised by a professor and a representative from the agricultural industry or a partner company. These projects allow students to apply their technical knowledge to real-world issues faced by our industry partners.
