Ten credits equate to 100 hours of study, which is a combination of lectures, seminars practical sessions, and independent study. A master's qualification typically comprises 180 credits, a PGDip 120 credits, a PGCert 60 credits, and an MFA 300 credits. Course Information
As the world rallies behind the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and grapples with the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss, the need for swift and effective solutions has never been more pressing. Our course is crafted to address emerging global themes, equipping you to not just understand the challenges but to lead the way in devising actionable solutions.
The course is closely aligned with global populations and the policies and solutions needed to achieve harmony with both governmental and corporate structures. It has been specifically developed to address key international themes in sustainability, carbon management, climate change, urban resilience, and skills that are current and meaningful to the sector.
During the course you’ll develop skills in the identification and analysis of regional and global issues, sifting evidence, selecting appropriate tools for tackling these issues as well as project management and policy implementation. Furthermore, you’ll learn to apply environmental management tools, climate risk assessment, and carbon management methods. You'll graduate able to evaluate the implementation of environmental policy and assess progress towards sustainable development.
Your learning will take place in our brand-new Dalton building opening in 2024. Using state-of-the-art analytical and computing equipment in our active learning spaces and technologies, you’ll be encouraged to work collaboratively with your peers. This will improve your networking skills and enhance your learning as you draw upon expertise within the department.
You’ll develop your project management skills and have the freedom to choose a specialism aligned to your own interests and career aspirations by undertaking a master's dissertation project. This prepares you for a range of careers, including further study.
