Introduction
This two-year MSc in Human Resource Management prepares students for managing the people side of organisations. In today’s knowledge-intensive society, employees are what constitute the competitive advantage in many organisations – if managed well. Students get a solid foundation in the management of human resources and other relevant topics such as organizational behaviour, strategy, communication and leadership. You will also learn about contemporary issues, for example how to manage people more sustainably.

The programme Human Resource Management is related to two other programmes: Strategy and Organization and Organization of Innovation Processes. These programmes have a common set of organization and strategy courses but add additional content. As the name indicates, the program in Human Resource Management offers a course that specializes in the management of human resources.
Teaching and learning
Teaching and learning at the University of Southern Denmark builds on the principle of active learning and teaching. You become part of a committed learning community and we expect you to actively participate, be proactive, curious and ready to learn.
We strive to teach in ways that generate in-depth learning and motivate students to participate actively in the learning activities. We also strive to ensure alignment between learning objectives, teaching methods, and forms of examination as well as variation among these. Each course typically consists of three lessons per week to support your independent learning activities. The lessons consist of lectures, seminars, projects and case studies. For project work, seminars and Master’s thesis, supervision is available.
We encourage students to form study groups across nationalities and other differences in their backgrounds to stimulate learning and develop skills for cooperation in multicultural and diverse teams.

Curriculum
Semester structure
The academic year is divided into two semesters, each comprising 15 weeks of instruction. The autumn semester starts 1 September and ends just before Christmas. The spring semester starts 1 February and ends around 1 June. Exams take place in January and June respectively.
Programme structure
The first two semesters comprise three compulsory courses each semester. In the third semester, you may choose between taking your electives at the University of Southern Denmark, at one of our many partner institutions or somewhere else, and you also can gain some of the ECTS through an internship. The fourth semester is dedicated to the completion of your Master’s thesis.
The diagram below gives an overview of the courses that are included in the programme. The programme lasts two years and consists of compulsory courses in the first two semesters, elective courses in the third semester, and a Master's thesis in the fourth semester.
Students who will be enrolled from 1st February will commence with the courses shown as 2nd-semester courses in the diagram. They will then proceed with the courses shown as 1st semester the following autumn.
