Introduction
The Master of Arts in Interaction Design combines design thinking, user experience, prototyping techniques, digital fabrication, programming, and physical computing in one study program, to train skilled professionals to play a prime role within the most innovative industrial, technological and design fields.
Admissions
Curriculum
The study program covers three semesters: The first semester focuses on in-depth workshops and courses about the Fundamentals of Interaction Design, whereas the second is dedicated to project-based learning about Designing Advanced Artifacts, Designing Advanced Environments and Designing Advanced Services. The third semester is entirely dedicated to the thesis project: students have the opportunity to do hands-on research on their own project and develop their competences with an internship at companies and industries.
The Master of Arts diploma in Interaction design awards 90 ECTS.
Topics and Contents
Students have the opportunity to acquire Human Centred Design methods for the analysis and the solution of design problems and to autonomously practice research methods. Topics such as user experience design, service design, creative coding, tangible interfaces, open design, HCD methods and cutting edge technologies for data visualisation and Machine Learning are taught through design-driven courses that allow students to develop appliances, interactive installations, exhibitions and spaces exhibitions, web and mobile applications, digital services and ecosystems.
The courses are held by well-recognized interaction designers, computational designers and creative technologists in collaboration with an established network of organizations, research centers, design practices and companies. They allow the students to learn programming and physical computing, digital fabrication techniques, the use of web technologies and design tools to deliver working prototypes. Moreover, the program gives students the basic knowledge required to set up a business plan and sustain a pitch to investors in the event that they want to launch a startup.
