Introduction
The Master’s Degree in International Trade and Economic Relations (MUCREI) is designed to train you to understand and master the instruments used in foreign trade and global business strategies, while at the same time delving into political, economic, and geo-strategic principles and the keys to corporate diplomacy that allow companies to successfully access the most attractive markets on a global level. You'll study specific management modules, where key aspects such as international finance, management and negotiation skills, global marketing, and geo-strategic analysis are explored.

Methodology of the Master’s Degree in International Trade and Economic Relations
- The master's program will provide you with a specific qualification in the field of management within international economic institutions, and the international management of companies
- With this degree, you'll learn about global business strategies and the instruments used in foreign trade, while at the same time exploring the key political and economic aspects of the most competitive economies and emerging countries. You'll also learn about crisis management processes, mergers, expansions, and integration with other companies
- The master’s program aims to create experts in international business, international economic relations, and foreign trade management who have a practical and operations-oriented vision of the sector, fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity
- The course syllabus includes specific international management modules where you’ll develop your knowledge of key areas such as international finance, management and negotiation skills, marketing, and geo-strategic analysis. It also includes specific modules focused on understanding and operating within the main geo-economic areas and markets, together with modules that explain the operations that are essential for the successful development of foreign trade: procedures, contracting, insurance, risks, logistics, etc
- You’ll be able to design and implement a company internationalization plan. You'll develop a marketing strategy for organizations operating in international – and therefore multicultural – environments. You'll have a global vision of international business and trade, a knowledge of the institutions and organizations that govern international economic relations, and you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of the different financial markets, identifying the best opportunities for the company or institution you work for
- You'll be able to round off your training with a period of study abroad that will include activities and visits to some of the most important institutions in the sphere of trade and international economic relations in the European
- Union and the United Nations in cities such as Brussels, Strasbourg, Frankfurt, and Geneva
- You’ll be able to access a labor market with a high employment success rate.
Program Outcome
General competencies
With all of the above, and taking into account the two-pronged approach of the master's degree, we aim to develop the following general competencies in students, by the provisions of Royal Decree 1393/2007 for the master's degree level:
- Capacity for making correlations, honing perception, and analytical skills, and interpreting the environment to be able to integrate information and make decisions in new environments.
- Knowledge integration, i.e. having an integrated vision of all the dimensions of a company or international organisation, to be able to analyze problems and look for solutions as a group.
- Ability to understand and leverage cultural diversity, developing respect for diversity.
- Ability to work as part of a team, innovative mentality, and decision-making.
- Communication skills (in both Spanish and English) to debate and present ideas and business projects in each area of the course syllabus to a specialized or non-specialized audience.
- Entrepreneurial spirit is required to incorporate the knowledge and skills developed during the master's degree into a Final Master’s Project.
- Critical thinking skills and a capacity for self-criticism.
Specific competencies
The following are the specific competencies that graduates will be able to demonstrate on completing their master's degree:
- Ability to lead projects and teams using an integrated ethical and socially responsible approach, assessing the impact of decisions made on profits, the market, people, and society.
- Mastery of the fundamentals of the world’s major economic areas, to translate these into competitive advantages for the company.
- Understanding the international legal, fiscal, business, and technological framework within which a company operates, and its impact on business activity when it comes to embarking on international projects.
- Ability to analyze the international economic environment. Ability to carry out assessments, and to plan strategically for the medium and long-term using existing tools.
- Development of high-level management competencies: leadership, emotional intelligence, communication skills, team management, group work, planning, conflict resolution, negotiation, and results orientation, always from a multicultural perspective and with respect for diversity.
- Comprehensive understanding of international financial markets, as well as financial instruments, to help companies and organizations define their financial policy.
- Definition and implementation of marketing, sales, and communication strategies for a multinational company opening up to new markets.
- Management of the resources required to successfully implement a plan for company internationalization, relaunching a new activity or opening up the company to new markets.
- Identification of the risks involved in the process of business internationalization and providing advice on tools and instruments that can protect the company from these risks.
- Proactively promote the use of technology in the processes that affect the different areas of decision-making, facilitating efficiency, innovation, and the generation of knowledge for companies immersed in processes of internationalization.
