Introduction
The Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism is administered by the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Viçosa. It aims to qualify, in a multidisciplinary perspective, human resources, scientifically and culturally, in a broad and in-depth way, through the development of research aimed at solving problems in the scope of Architecture and Urbanism.
The Program treats Architecture and Urbanism as inseparable disciplinary fields. The location of UFV in the interior of Minas Gerais has contributed so that most of the research developed by the Program's professors has as its locus of investigation both the city of Viçosa and the other cities of the state, as well as the neighboring states: Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo Holy. This constitutes a differential and a specificity of one of its lines of research, which seeks to fill a gap in studies in the field of Architecture and Urbanism aimed at small and medium-sized cities. The other line already transcends the borders of Minas Gerais by turning to national aspects linked to the environment and its relationship with the user.
With such spatial cutouts, the Program's teachers have been conducting research in the areas of performance evaluation of the built environment, technological applications in buildings, processes for the production of sustainable and intelligent buildings, environmental behavior, urban planning, and urbanization processes.
