Introduction
As Vietnam emerges fully onto the world economic stage, new and constantly-evolving demands are placed on business executives in all industries. To successfully manage these challenges, today’s executive must possess strong analytical skills, the ability to think strategically, and effective leadership capabilities.
To meet these challenges head-on, the University of Hawaii, Shidler College of Business has partnered with the Hanoi School of Business, and most recently, the International University to deliver its first-rate Executive MBA program that will train, guide and prepare Vietnam’s top executives who want to elevate their management skills.
The program is a two-year, executive format program that allows participants to maintain full-time management positions while earning their degree. Students will learn from an integrated, modern curriculum that incorporates core business disciplines with cutting-edge business practices including management of information technologies, entrepreneurship, e-business and Asia-Pacific global business strategy.
Shidler College of Business’s Executive MBA program has already proven to be immensely successful in advancing many graduates’ careers for the last several years in Hanoi. This year will mark the first time that the program is offered in Ho Chi Min City.
Thus, with their degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, UH Executive MBA graduates will be able to demonstrate that they have the confidence and skills to compete for top executive positions, not only in Vietnam but, anywhere in the world.

Core Curriculum
The core curriculum makes up the first half of the program and consists of 12 courses that challenge students to solve complex business problems in a multicultural environment, to apply strong analytical and strategic thinking to business issues, and to develop sophisticated management skills for effective global business leadership. Courses vary in length and are either 1.5 credits or 3 credits.
Professional Development
Professional development course designed to focus on and improve the soft skills of MBA students. Students will learn from guest speakers, through field trips, intensive workshops, and hands-on experience.

Economics of Strategy
Microeconomic principles that provide structure to solve managerial problems, and to suggest strategies for success. Evaluation of the microeconomic competitive economic environment in which organizations operate.
Marketing Management
Concepts and issues in marketing within the global environment of business. Ethical dimensions and social responsibilities; market research; consumer segmentation and positioning; strategic marketing planning.
Accounting for Decision Making
Accounting tools for business professional focusing on the role of accounting information in capital markets, managerial decision making and corporate governance.
Leadership and Communication
Introduction to personal leadership development with emphasis on communication skill building and leading organizational change.
Organizational Behavior
Contributions made by sociology, psychology and related behavioral sciences to the understanding and prediction of human behavior in organizations.
Business, Government & External Environment
Important issues related to the external environment of business. This includes but is not limited to international trade and finance, regulatory environment, social impacts of business.
Ethics
This course assists students in developing an awareness of major ethical issues which affect business decisions, and encourages a socially responsible consideration of those issues and being able to express their views.
Managerial Finance
Financial management theories and tools for business professionals; asset management; capital budgeting; capital structure and dividend policies.
Managing Information Technology for Strategic Advantage
Theory, practices, techniques for managing information technology resources for innovation and for strategic advantage in a global business environment.
Emphasis on Asia/Pacific.
Operation and Supply Chain Management
Theory, practices, techniques for managing operations and supply chains for global integration of firms and organizations. Emphasis on Asia/Pacific.
Business Policy & Strategy
Integration of learning through analysis of comprehensive business problems, resolution of policy issues, and the study of competitive strategies in the international setting.
Field Studies in Enterprise: Audit of Existing Organization
Final MBA requirement for those candidates not writing a thesis. Candidates will form consulting groups of 3-5 members and complete an audit of an existing organization.
