The dynamic and challenging world of business has encouraged the increasing use of project management across all business sectors. In turn, this has created a heightened demand for qualified project managers, not only in the traditional areas of engineering and technology but also in new fields of practice. These additional areas include health and wellbeing; environmental and community development programmes; education; archaeology; and many of the creative and key service industries (including tourism and event management); inspiring innovative forms of project and programme management.
Project Management at Winchester equips you with technical and interpersonal skills in both tactical and strategic approaches to portfolio, programme and project management. It also provides opportunities for you to acquire the attributes, skills and knowledge to work as an effective and professional project manager to ensure you get the best out of your project teams. You discuss and debate ideas and practices, considering how they fit into your professional experience in the workplace.
You consider and develop practical approaches to project management, exploring and practising traditional and contemporary approaches to the profession. Study core modules including Fundamentals of Project Management, Project Management Tools and Applications, Advanced Project and Programme Management, Principles of Responsible Management as well as Research Methods in Business. Then choose from the optional modules: Business Consulting, Leadership in Organizations, and Sustainable Innovation Management. You also complete a final dissertation or a consultancy project.
