The Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) programme in Architecture offers its students training in the profession of architecture based on a ‘polytechnic culture’, in which humanistic and artistic skills are inseparably and continually combined with scientific and technological skills within a technical university that is a leader in Europe and the world, capable of both enhancing its Milanese tradition and welcoming a growing plurality of cultural experiences, with the aim of designing the future with foresight.

The MSc is offered by Centre for Architecture and Sustainable Environment, a new research centre in the Kent School of Architecture and Planning (KSAP) that promotes a cross-disciplinary approach to research in the field of sustainability in the built environment, bridging the traditional boundaries between the arts and the sciences, research and practice. The course content ranges from the development of the design skills and the technical and scientific understanding required to develop sustainable solutions for new and existing buildings, the analysis of historic buildings and past environment technologies, to a critical exploration of the historical and cultural context of sustainability and environmental design.

RTU’s professional master’s in Architecture is a comprehensive, internationally recognised programme that equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue independent professional practice in architecture.

Courses cover a wide scope of issues from the architectural and urban theory and design, advanced structures and materials, conservation of monuments to urban renewal strategies. Diploma awarded after completion of the second-degree studies is formally recognized (in accordance with Directive 2005/36/EC) as proof of obtaining qualifications of an architect in the European Union.

After completion of the Master’s programme in Architecture and Urban Planning students are awarded the Master’s Degree in Architecture. Graduates are equipped with knowledge and skills that enable them to enrol themselves on doctoral and specialised postgraduate programmes.

This programme trains students to apply their complex knowledge in the areas of architecture and urban planning, as well as in the multi-faceted field of environment formation in general (architectural design, town and country planning, preservation of built heritage, structural design, construction work, management and administration tasks, consulting with authorities, teaching, etc.)
