The Central University is constituted as an institution of higher education, in accordance with all the legal parameters of the Ministry of National Education. Its internal organization follows from the General Statute and its academic life depends on the Institutional Educational Project.

This institution was founded in 1966 by a group of prestigious Colombian educators who sought to extend access to higher education to all sectors of society. On June 30 of that year, Raúl Vásquez Vélez, Rubén Amaya Reyes, Carlos Medellín, Alberto Gómez Moreno, Eduardo Mendoza Varela, Elberto Téllez Camacho, Jorge Enrique Molina and Darío Samper, signed the constitution of the Central University Foundation. Since then, it provides a comprehensive education to its students, in which their efforts have been oriented to the ethical, humanistic and scientific training of these, as well as to the knowledge and identification of the social reality of the country.

Thus, it has been proposed to train suitable professionals who are, at the same time, integral citizens and leaders able to direct and guide socio-cultural processes such as those required for the construction of a new country. This faculty has been concerned with professional quality, academic excellence and the social projection of its undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

The "creative praxis", as a search for the nonexistent text, becomes the program's proposal for a different form of research.... [-]

Mastery has a differentiating factor in that it focuses on developing an epistemology based on systemic and social constructionist practices, with investigative rigor and with a reflective, transdisciplinary and aesthetic approach to intervention....
