Altai State University (the city of Barnaul, the south of Western Siberia, Russia) is a federal state budget educational establishment of higher professional education.
Altai State University, founded in 1973, became the pioneer of classical education in Altai Region. Today the University is the center for development of classical higher professional education, fundamental and applied sciences, social and cultural life in the south of Western Siberia.
The University possesses significant research and staff potential. More than 900 teaching staff members collaborate here, including 97 doctors of sciences and 483 Ph.D. specialists. More than 18000 students are enrolled into academic studies on the 16 University schools. The University offers education in 52 specialties of higher professional education and 18 specialties of secondary professional education, 34 directions of Bachelor’s training and 32 directions of Master’s training, 56 Ph.D. and 16 doctoral scientific specialties.
The University encompasses 6 branches, 3 Scientific and Research Institutes, 21 Re-training and Qualification Improvement Centres, South-Siberian Botany Gardens, Lake Krasilovo field practice, Art-gallery “Universum”, 7 Research centers. 17 scientific schools have been formed and are actively developing in the University. The University is the founder of 5 small innovative enterprises.
Within the framework of the University Strategic Development Program 2012-2016 supported by the Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Science five research-educational complexes (RECs) have been formed such as “Molecular biology, nano- and biotechnologies”, “Geoecological monitoring and prognostication of geosystems’ state for sustainable socio-economic development of the region”, “Institute for cooperation with Asian countries”, “Innovative educational programmes on priority trends of Altai and Siberia”, “Innovative infrastructure and university management system”. The basic functions of RECs are to provide coordination of interdisciplinary research and project realization within the priority trends.
Altai State University is actively developing international cooperation. The University has got more than 40 collaboration agreements with foreign partners, the majority of which are Asian ones.
Altai State University expresses willingness and strong intention for establishing new fruitful collaboration links in order to initiate joint double-degree Bachelor’s, Master’s programs and conduct joint research projects within the mentioned above research priority trends.
